Forza Horizon 4 came out earlier this month and the game is selling well against most new release games. It nearly even beat out sales of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey which came out on more platforms.
Forza Horizon 4 debuted at number 3 in the UK charts as it got beaten out by FIFA 19 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. That said, sales were high enough to exceed units sold for Forza Horizon 3 during its launch back in 2016.
Xbox UK director Harvey Eagle talked with Game Industry about the game’s success: “We’re thrilled that Forza Horizon 4 has been so well received by gamers across the UK. Set in beautiful, historic Britain and made by British studio Playground Games, Forza Horizon 4 is the fastest-ever selling game of the Forza Horizon series in the UK according to the latest GfK data. We’re also seeing a huge uplift in Xbox Game Pass subscriptions and engagement. These achievements are a testament to the craft and ambition of the latest release of the Forza franchise, the world’s biggest racing IP. ”
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey debuted at number 2 on the UK charts. While that is still impressive, sales of the game were 26% lower than that of Assassin’s Creed Origins which came out last year. 63% of sales were for the PS4 version while the remaining percentage bought it on Xbox One.
