Updated versions of consoles is nothing new as we’ve seen this already with Sony’s PS4 Pro and Microsoft’s Xbox One X. Well now it looks like Nintendo is giving it a go as a new version of the Nintendo Switch console is due out sometime next year.
This has been reported by The Wall Street Journal today. The report says “Nintendo Co. plans to release a new version of its Switch videogame console next year to maintain the sales momentum of the device, according to suppliers and others with direct knowledge of the plan.”
Although sales of the Nintendo Switch console is still strong worldwide, sales of the console have dropped off slightly since its launch back in March 2017. By releasing a new model, this should upkeep sales of the console at a healthier rate.
Gamers will be happy to know the new system will be compatible with all existing Switch software so it’s not a totally new console. No other details have been revealed at this time, but it’s speculated that we should see a new type of screen on the newer version.
