The much anticipated sequel for The Evil Within 2 is here and it’s all geared up to give up the scare fans needed for this upcoming Halloween. For fans of the first game, prepare to see some drastic changes to the game. It’s no way by any means similar to the first game as it switches from the linear survival-horror genre to a somewhat open-world game similar to games like Silent Hill.
If this is your first time playing the game, we got some useful tips that you can take before you set foot in the town of Union. Beware, it’s really scary out there.
1. Search Every Corner
The town of Union is big and with the freedom now given to us to explore the game. It’s always best to search every nook and cranny the game has to offer. For completionists, there are a lot of collectibles that can be gathered in the game such as Files and Mysterious Items. Both are scattered throughout the game that really require you to search every possible area that you can check. Also, there are now weapon parts, and all sorts of craftable items that you can craft in the game and the materials are just scattered around. There are also secret weapons in houses you’d least expect and enemies that holds secret item that can be of useful later on. Just be wary as there are a lot of monsters who will try to stop you.
2. Manage Your Resources
Regardless if you are playing Survival or Nightmare, managing your resources is a key in surviving the town of Union. One of the ways to manage your resources is saving ammunition. If you encounter a single monster, find a way to sneak onto it and do a stealth kill rather than using your precious ammunition. Of course if you are playing Nightmare, resources are even more limited.
3. Use your Environments
In taking down the monstrosity of the people in Union, you must use the environments to your advantage. Since there are traps that you can set or at least shoot that can explode into a group of enemies, use them. Also if you find an enemy standing on a pool of water, use a gun that deals shock damage to instantly electrocute them. It’s always good that you are using every possible resource that you can find. Not to mention the things you can pick up on the ground can be used to hit the monsters in the game.
4. Upgrade Wisely
There are a lot of skills and upgrades Sebastian can get but since you cannot unlock all of them at once, spend the time to read each of them and prioritize. Since it will be somewhat tough to get Green Gel from enemies, think that every upgrade you will do is your last.
5. Make Use of your Walkie-Talkie
After reaching Chapter 3, you will get a Walkie-Talkie or Radio that allows you to read on nearby resonances. Locking into these resonances will allow you locate certain objectives in the game. Regardless if you are using them or not, pay attention on your screen for the waves. If you see them, use the radio by pressing the Triangle or Y button and lock into the signal. That will let you hear or track your objectives more easily.
